Legal experts speak with clear voice on Israel like the proverbial “There is a fly in my soup.” 24 top lawyers conclude at the world’s international law capital that a UN Security Council resolution on Israel was deeply flawed.
Despite the many territorial conflicts and claims worldwide – estimated to be about 200 – the only one makes the news headlines and provides fuel to politicians and international bodies on an ongoing almost daily basis.
“Illegal Occupation”, “State of Palestine”, “1967 borders” and “apartheid” are only some of the terms regarding Israel. There are seen dozens of times daily in social media and newsprint and heard continuously on television. Invariably, Israel and its representatives are not given the elementary right of reply; Israel`s “criminality” and “guilt” are taken for granted.

Over the years, leading international law jurists such as Professor Jacques Gauthier, Judge Schwebel (former President of the World Court), Professor Julius Stone and Eugene Rostow have investigated legal underpinnings of Israel`s actions and rights. As one person, they have found that Israel is in the right, factually and legally.
Now a group of 24 international law experts has concluded that last year’s UN Security Council 2334, which condemned Israeli settlements, was flawed. These legal experts met at a forum at The Peace Palace at The Hague in June this year. After intensive discussion covering the main issues – both of the resolution and generally of the conflict – the legal experts issued a report relating to UN Security Council 2334. These experts concluded that the resolution: fell short of an open, balanced, and thorough consideration of all the relevant factual and legal issues [which] resulted in legal findings that did not adequately take into account the legal, historical, political and military complexities of these territories and peoples”.
The report makes clear that UNSC Resolution 2334 was a politicization of United Nations processes to attack the Jewish State. These international law experts have given their considered opinion that clearly shows how biased and improper the resolution was. In doing so, these experts have simultaneously given the sword to the often ignorant and nearly always biased critics and criticisms of Israel.
I urge to read the report before making a judgment.
