I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this website.
I go to a university in South Africa where we are often told that Israel is evil or an apartheid state. I don’t know much about the history of Israel or about the relationship with South Africa but I do know that all this attention must mean that there is something beneath the surface that needs to be discovered.
I started to do my own research and I came across this site. While I understand that the situation between Palestine and Israel is complex I don’t think it is what some of the people on my university say it is. I also didn’t know that there were so many South Africans living there and that Israel does so much in the world.
I also don’t think it is right for South Africa to impose a solution on to Israel and Palestine. We learnt as South Africans that we must listen to each other and talk to our enemies if we want to make peace.
I am happy that I took the time to find the answers to my questions on my own. I don’t want to feel pressured by one side or the other for an opinion. I hope many of my friends will be inspired to search for their own answers.
