It is Holocaust Memorial Day in Israel. A day that marks a very dark time in Jewish history. Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, holds the archive of thousands of photos, letters, testimonials and videos of interviews with survivors. Incredible experiences of courage, despair, hope and grief that have a way of putting our lives, here and now, in greater perspective.
The picture above is of European Jews exiting a train after many days in horrifying conditions, on their way to a concentration camp. The word genocide gets thrown around a lot and has watered down the true meaning. This picture shows a tiny glimpse of true genocide.
